The Incredible Competition

I decided to fill out the application to a kid’s cooking competition. It was going to be on TV. There were three judges. The kids were competing against each other to see who could make the best dessert. There would be six rounds. The winner of the contest got one thousand dollars.

I have loved to cook since I was a little girl. I was very surprised that the producer of the show picked me as one of the kids to be in the competition. It was also a perfect birthday gift for my mom, since it was her birthday, and the day I found

out I was going to be on TV. My parents were both thrilled and very proud of me at the same time.

I decided to make a rainbow cake with colorful sprinkles and vanilla and strawberry icing on the cake for the first round. The next, dessert I made was a red velvet cupcake with vanilla icing and special ingredients. A cookie with rainbow colored dough was my next choice. After that, I decided to make a pudding with real matcha and ice cream. Strawberry chocolate cheesecake was my next choice. I settled on rainbow bread with coffee cream filling for my final dessert. I was nervous because I had to be on TV for the first time. I decided to try out my recipe for the rainbow cake because I had

never made this cake before. It took three tries to get the cake right. My parents tasted it, and they said it was delicious! I thought it tasted good too. The competition was going to start in two weeks, so I still had time to prepare for the cooking show.

It was June 15,2023, the day of the competition. I was excited and scared at the same time. I had to compete against six other kids who were also very talented. The studio was like a giant baking kitchen. The host introduced us to the judges before the show. She also showed each of us to our individual stations. Then it was time to start the competition. We were told we had two hours to make our desserts. Then when the time was up we had to bring the desserts to the table where the judges were. First, we had to go to the back of the room to grab all of the ingredients we needed for our desserts. Then the host said go, so I began to make the cake batter first then poured it into a cake mold. It took 30 minutes to finish. Then I made the icing which was strawberry and vanilla.

I finished just in time. It was time for the judges to taste the desserts of all seven of the competitors. Then the judges will have to eliminate one contestant from the contest. When the judges tasted my cake, they said it was very delicious and they loved the colors. It was very intense when they announced who was the person to be eliminated. Thankfully I was not eliminated. After a few rounds, which thankfully, I was not eliminated. It was the second to the last round. It was me versus two kids. I made the strawberry chocolate cheesecake. It looked pretty good to me. In the last round I didn't think they called my name but they did, which meant I won the competition! I ended up going home with one thousand dollars and an award. I was super stoked, so were my parents.
